Morning Announcements

  • Options for O Canada
  • Student/Staff participation
  • There are 3 options for O Canada - English/French/ Instrumental - Board approved only
  • Special events – students are welcome to make special announcements 

Lunch Screen Time

  • Options to reduce or eliminate screen time & council recommended alternatives
  • Staff put on educational videos for a varied of reasons.  It’s a helpful behavioral management tool.
  • 30 minutes allotted to eat and most kids finish eating after 10 minutes. 

 

WINTER CLOTHING DONATION

Pay-What-You-Can Fundraiser Sub committee will be meeting this week to follow up and finalize details.

Curling Canada – Learn to Curl Program – November 25 - 27

  • Colouring sheets /contest
  • Draw a pic of them curling and write a sentence of their experience
  • Cara to contribute 5 trivia questions for the announcements

Indigenous Art Program – Jan – March 2026 - Vote passed - $3 000

McMichael Art Workshops

  • $18.00/Student = $2,000

D. Douglas Artist Workshops

  • After Board subsidy = $12,000

BUDGET ALLOCATION - Remaining Funds

Staff considerations:

Commit remaining funds to staff requests - likely Scientists in the School or Author Visits depending on cost of program.

Balance the science / STEM options ($4000 likely cost)

Author visits ($1200 likely cost)

Use Nov fundraiser & passive fundraising to generate funds for grade 8 grad portfolio ($500) and resources needed for Feb bingo night (Est $600) & May Fundraiser (Est $600)

 

Fundraising – Pizza 

Topper Pizza was chosen

Tuesday December 2nd.  Will re-evaluate after the date

  • Cara to create the flyer
  • Rebecca to coordinate with Toppers

Flyer will be printed and distributed to oldest and only. 

 

Family Bingo Night – Wed February 11th tentative date

Promote at the holiday concert

Sub-committees

Reach out to local businesses & your personal network to obtain donations. Must be done though Nov, Dec & early Jan. Recommended minimum $100 value & minimum of 10 prizes (no max!)

Tickets & Food – Jessica, Erin 

Identify 2 ticket prices - 1 event only 1 event + food based on need to cover event cost and generate funds.

Determine process, deadline & quantity for ticket sales, identify food options & coordinate purchasing/ordering.

Event resources – Roxy, Sarah, Cara

Determine what supplies are needed to support the event (eg bingo cards, tables/chairs,microphone), identify how the event will run (ie schedule), identify volunteer support required (set up/clean up, day of event, etc) 

 

Come into next meeting with high level plan

Have an estimation of cost 

 

Planning Ahead- Fundraising options for the future

Prioritize action items for Feb bingo night fundraiser

Review success of passive fundraising & identify other passive fundraising options if required

Identify fundraising options for May education month fundraiser in partnership with Denne staff & start forming sub-committees & identifying action items

Approve council spending to accommodate spontaneous staff requests as much as possible for this year while keeping next year’s goals in mind

Planning for next year - what initiatives can we start working on now to get next year off to a good start?
