School Council

You can engage in your child’s learning at home and school in many ways. The school council provides advice on school matters and helps to strengthen the important relationship between schools, families and their communities. The council includes family members, school staff and community members.

Please contact our school office for more information on School Council minutes.

Membership

Our Denne School Council is composed of up to 9 voting members and any parent of a Denne student as well as the Principal and at least one Staff member. The objective of our meetings is to listen to concerns of parents, pass school policies relating to students, apply for the PROGrant (a Ministry of Education grant that is offered to schools to help engage parents in various projects or evening events), organize fundraising opportunities and direct the spending of fundraising money. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month in the school library from 7pm-9pm.

The Halloween Hop is another council initiative, our major fundraiser of the school year.  We also support movie nights (both after school features for students and also family movie nights), working Wednesdays (an evening where parents get together to cut and paste and help out the teachers while socializing with other parents) and Family Fun Nights.

Our mission is to give parents a voice and a safe venue to seek answers for your questions.    You are always welcome to the meetings… please, come on out and see what we do first hand!  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the council at denne.ps@sc.yrdsb.ca

To reach our school council, please email denne.ps@sc.yrdsb.ca
